Information about the basis of these statistics is available from the Vital Events – General Information and the Births – Background Information pages.

This page contains datasets in Excel format. This data will be particularly useful for users who would like the same data for a series of different years rather than just for one year.

Note 1: Tables are mainly offered for the purposes of extracting figures. Due to the size of some of the files they are not recommended for printing.

Note 2: If you experience difficulty downloading the files. Please contact our Statistics Customer Services (email: statisticscustomerservices@nrscotland.gov.uk ) and request a disk with the full file.

Note 3: As from 2010, re-registrations of births are no longer included in the Adoption Chapter in Table 2.1. For information about the reasons for this please go to the Re-registration of Birth or Stillbirth section. Re-registrations are now contained in the Births Time Series Tables.

Workbooks which contain data for several years

The following workbooks provide the data for several years in the form of a separate spreadsheet for each year which has a table of the figures for that year. These are not conventional time-series tables because they do not have a separate row (or column) for each year.
