Breaches of the Code of Practice

Definition

Breaches of principles, or associated protocols, within the Code of Practice for Official Statistics (which came into effect from January 2009) occur in situations where non-observance of the Code was not approved in advance by the National Statistician or Head of Profession (Chief Statistician or Registrar General in Scotland). An example would be a deliberate, or inadvertent, ‘leak’ to the press.

If a breach to the Code of Practice for Official Statistics occurs then a report is submitted to the UK Statistics Authority. These breach reports are provided below:
