Background

The latest National Life Tables for Scotland publication. It shows trends regarding the average number of years people in Scotland will live beyond their current age by age and sex. Prior to the 2014-2016 estimates, the most recent life tables for Scotland were described in the Registrar General’s Annual Review in August. Beginning with the 2014-2016 figures, National Records of Scotland (NRS) produce a statistical bulletin for the national life tables in September.

Historic Life Tables

Historic Life Tables for the UK and its constituent countries are available on the ONS website. The detailed 2013-15 National Life Tables for the UK and its constituent countries are also available on the ONS website. The tables provide period life expectancy for males and females by single year of age (0 to 100), for three-year rolling periods.
