Life Expectancy at Scotland Level
Scottish National Life Tables
National life tables (previously known as Interim Life Tables), which are produced annually for Scotland, give statistics on period life expectancy by age and sex. Each life table is based on population estimates, births and deaths data for a period of three consecutive years.
Scottish Decennial Life Tables
These are graduated period life tables which give statistics on national life expectancy for Scotland. They are constructed every 10 years based on the mortality experience of Scotland’s population during the three years centred on a census year. Decennial life tables are no longer produced in Scotland but historical tables are available here.
