Small errors were found in the ‘Dwelling estimates and characteristics of dwellings, by 2001 Data Zone' median rooms data. Full details can be found in the metadata tab of the excel workbook.

This section contains estimates of the numbers of households and dwellings at neighbourhood (data zone) level. It includes estimates of the number of dwellings that are occupied and vacant, and information on the characteristics of dwellings such as dwelling type and number of rooms.

Information is given for both 2001 Data Zones and 2011 Data Zones.

Note
Previous years' data are subject to change as more accurate totals are supplied from the councils. Any changes made to the data will be mentioned in the metadata tab of the excel workbooks.

Household estimates by data zone

Estimates of the number and percentage of dwellings which are occupied, vacant, unoccupied exemptions, long-term empty, second homes, occupied and exempt from paying council tax, or that are receiving a ‘single adult’ Council Tax discount in each neighbourhood (data zone). This data comes from Council Tax billing systems. Max File size 4 MB.

Dwelling Estimates by Data Zone

Estimates of the number and characteristics of dwellings in each neighbourhood (data zone). Information is given on Council Tax Band, type of dwelling, number of rooms per dwelling and number of dwellings per hectare. This data is taken from the Scottish Assessors’ Association’s Assessors’ Portal. Max File Size 14 MB.

2011 Data Zones

The estimates at 2011 data zone level are available from 2014 to 2018.
(Data for 2018 and 2019 on type of dwellings and number of rooms are not yet available for publication.)

The estimates at 2001 data zone level are available from 2003 to 2017.

From 2018 onwards, estimates are no longer produced for 2001 Data Zones.
