1991 Census Special Migration Statistics
Special Migration Statistics (SMS) contains data from the 1991 Census, showing migration flows by unitary council area. The data is broken down by council area lived in at the time of the census and the area lived in one year before the census. The data also includes numbers of in-migrants to Scottish council areas from England & Wales and from outside Great Britain.
The tables provided are the ones listed in the published 1991 Census User Guide Prospectus No. 35, entitled “Special Migration Statistics”.
Note: The tables below are available as an Excel spreadsheet and in comma separated value (CSV) format. When opening the spreadsheet files your browser, depending on how it's been configured, will prompt to either open the file or save it to disk. The maximum file size is 1,239 Kb.
Note 1: The tables below are mainly offered for the purpose of extracting figures. Due to the size of the files it is not recommended for printing.
