Mid-2002 Population Estimates, Council and Health Board Areas
Please always refer to the latest mid-year estimates and population time series data to get the latest data available for Scotland. This data superseded the data given below at the specified date.
The 2002 mid-year population estimates, below, for council and health board areas were published by the Registrar General for Scotland on 30 June 2003. There was a news release announcing the results.
The 2002 mid-year estimates use a new data source, the Community Health Index, for estimating migration at council area level. An overview of the new method is available. In addition, a number of special adjustments were made to the migration estimates for 2002 to take account of the results from the 2001 Census and information on list cleaning in the National Health Service Central Register.
