Total Migration To or From an Area
Total Migration To or From an Area
Last Updated 25 September 2013
Total migration includes all migration to or from an area. For Scotland this would include moves to and from the rest of the UK and moves to and from overseas whilst for a council or NHS board area it would also include moves to and from other such areas in Scotland.
The National Records of Scotland (NRS) estimates of total migration are mainly based on the International Passenger Survey (IPS) and GP registration information. More information on how these migration estimates are derived can be found in the migration statistics Methodology section of this website.
