Note
After a Consultation on the timings of Vital Events statistics publications, it has been decided that we will no longer produce these statistics in response to user feedback. The publication was last updated for 2016.
The finalised figures published in the Vital Events Reference Tables will now be brought forward to the last week of June instead of August, as in previous years.

The tables Births, Deaths and Other Vital Events Events - Preliminary Annual (formerly Births, Marriages and Deaths) contain provisional data on births, deaths, cause of death and marriages registered in Scotland. Much of this information is broken down by sex, age and area. |

Note: these statistics have been superseded by the figures which appear in the corresponding edition of the Vital Events Reference Tables. The rates in the preliminary annual tables have not been updated to reflect the rebased population estimates published on 17 December 2013.
