Note
The data in Table 5.4 are not suitable for calculating reliable mortality rates for most ethnicities. Please refer to the ethnicity of the deceased section for more information.
Revision of death rates, and removal of the breaks in the time-series of those rates that were caused by the rebasing of population estimates to use the results of the 2011 Census
Tables 5.1(a) and 5.1(b) were replaced, on 19 February 2014, by versions giving revised rates for the years concerned, between 2002 to 2011, which were calculated using the 'rebased' mid-year population estimates. Until then, the versions of these tables that were available had breaks in the time-series. More information about this is given on the Birth and deaths rates: breaks in series circa 2011 page of this website. The opportunity was also taken to expand Table 5.1(b) to include figures for 2001, 2002 and 2003.
