Figures for total local authority collected municipal solid waste arisings, recycling and composting and the % of local authority collected municipal solid waste arisings which are recycled or composted between 2000/01 and 2010/11 are available on Scottish Environment Statistics Online.
Municipal solid waste includes household waste and similar waste from businesses. Local Authority Collected Municipal Solid Waste (LACMSW) is the municipal solid waste collected by, or on behalf of, local authorities. It excludes: abandoned vehicles, road maintenance waste, commercial waste that is delivered to local authority owned or run landfill sites but where the local authority has no part in the collection or disposal arrangements that have led to this delivery, industrial waste collected from industrial premises and taken for disposal or treatment separately from any other waste, and construction and demolition waste that is collected and taken for disposal or treatment separately from any other waste.
Like the household waste data, the data for Local Authority Collected Waste (LACW) was collected through WasteDataFlow. The accuracy depends on local authority to provide information based on weights for individual waste streams and material collections. Local authorities also have to provide a final destination of the materials (with reference to waste management license/permit).
The data are available online at Scottish Environment Statistics Online and can be downloaded as an Excel file with accompanying commentary and metadata.
Previously, the data for the National Indicator: Reduce Waste Generated in Scotland, was based on Local Authority Collected Municipal Solid Waste (LACMW) and was collected on a financial year basis. From 2011 onwards, the indicator has been based on household waste. The reason for this change is to ensure that figures are aligned with Scottish, UK and European targets and focus on the service provided by local authorities to individual households.
This data is no longer being collected.
This slice of multidimensional data is not a Linked Data resource in the database: it's a virtual resource (i.e. you can't query it by SPARQL). But does have a permanent unique URL which can be bookmarked.
