These statistics report on children in families that have both low income and cannot afford three or more out of a list of 22 basic necessities. The latest release can be found here: https://www2.gov.scot/Topics/Statistics/Browse/Social-Welfare/IncomePoverty/LAPovertyData

The data is from the Scottish Household Survey.

Low income means an equivalised net household income below 70% of the Scottish median.

The following breakdowns are provided:

  • Council areas
  • Health boards
  • Number of adults in household
  • Number of children in household
  • Disability status (whether any of the adults living in household is disabled)
  • Work status (whether any of up to two adults in household is in employment – we have no information on the employment status of any additional adult in household)
  • Tenure
  • 3-Fold urban/rural class
  • SIMD quintile
