Producing official statistics

How official statistics are produced and published by the Scottish Government and other bodies.

Introduction

We provide information and guidance on the governance arrangements and frameworks that we use to support the production and publication of official statistics by the Scottish Government and other bodies.

The Scottish Government produces and publishes official statistics in accordance with the UK Statistics Authority’s Code of Practice for Statistics, and other relevant guidance.

The Government Statistical Service (GSS) guidance hub has details of relevant statistics policies and guidance. You can find more information about topics such as communicating statistics, quality, harmonisation, methodology and connected open government statistics.

Framework for Official Statistics

The Concordat sets out the agreed framework for co-operation between the UK Government (including the UK Statistics Authority and Office for National Statistics) and Devolved Administrations, in relation to the production of statistics, for and within the UK, statistical standards and the statistics profession.
