Vital Events Reference Tables 2007

Vital Events Reference Tables 2007

These tables contain 2007 demographic data. They provide the same level of information contained in past (pre-2001) Registrar General's Annual Reports. Tables containing 2007 data are divided into 8 sections; Summary; Adoptions and re-registrations; Births; Stillbirths and infant deaths; Deaths; Deaths by cause; Marriages and Divorces. The tables (listed below) are based on vital event numbers.

Note: In previous years, Tables 2.1 to 2.8 provided estimates of the population of Scotland in recent years, and projections of the future population. Such figures are now available from the 'Population Estimates' and 'Population Projections' parts of the website. Section 2 of the Reference Tables now contains the tables on Adoptions (which previously formed Section 9): the tables in the other sections have not been renumbered. In addition, in previous years, Tables 5.4 and 5.5 provided figures on life expectancy: these are now available from the 'Life Expectancy at Scotland Level' section of the website.

Revision of Marital Status Population Estimates

In October 2009 Revised Marital Status Population Estimates were published. Table 2.2 in the 2002 to 2006 editions now provides the revised Marital Status Population Estimates. The other tables have not been changed as revised time-series tables are available from revised Tables 3.5 and 7.2 in the 2008 Reference Tables.
